Quantum Orthomolecular Medicine associates diabetes with many secondary health issues, including fungal infection. Rebecca Stone MD India believes that fungal infections issues can result from elevated blood sugar. The high glucose problems result in increased stress levels and high levels of inflammation and free radical levels throughout the body. The associated inflammation stresses the cardiac system, blood vessels, brain, and the kidneys. The impaired blood flow can result in fungal infections like jock itch, underarm fungal infections, fungal infections under fatty folds of excess skin in overweight diabetics, or foot fungus. The alpha lipoic acid can serve in some people to actually lower glucose elevation and reduce inflammation. The fungal conditions are usually not totally cured until the glucose levels are brought into the normal range.
